Ice in the Desert

(YEAR)

2021

(PROJECT TYPE)

Packaging Design

(INTRODUCTION)

The concept of a packaging that can retain the cold ice cream in the scorching atmosphere was inspired by a paradoxical natural phenomenon called Penetente, in which snow will sublime into spike ice in high-altitude deserts. Each cup of ice cream depicts one stage of penetrating development, including snowfalls, melt, sublime, and penetration, using 3D printing technology.

(AIM)

Ice cream is a delightful dessert that linked to positive beliefs and emotions. It will, however, readily melt while people are eating or going outside.

The goal of this project is to develop ice cream packaging that is cool, portable, and long-lasting. It may be carried by hand to outdoor activities, such as enjoying ice cream at a picnic or on the beach, because it can withstand the heat.

(CONCEPT)

The ice cream container's basic concept is to employ a natural phenomenon known as Penitente as a symbol for living in harsh environments, such as snow falling on the desert and sublime to spike ice in cold and dry weather. It will also spend the entire summer in the high desert.

(SPECIFICATIONS)

The cup, which has a doubled and curved layer as well as a hole at the bottom to insert the ice-cold gel, can keep the ice cream cool for over 8 hours and allow customers to eat without losing a single taste. Each cup has a different design and texture that represents a different step in the production of penetente, and they can be mixed and matched.
